INTRO TO ACTING

Ever thought of becoming an actor? Or wondered about the unplumbed depths of your own emotional psyche? Or maybe you just want to get to know your authentic self a little better? If any of those thoughts sound familiar, then Intro to Acting is a great place to start. Intro to Acting will help you develop fundamental acting tools: playing in action, living truthfully in imaginary circumstances, and working with a partner. No matter your experience, you’ll learn the basics of acting, and a little bit more about yourself, in an exciting and safe atmosphere. This class is for people who are ready to stop ignoring their inner artist and start showing up for themselves! Taught by 100 Lives Co-Artistic Director Brooke Totman

100 Lives Repertory Company is an actor-driven professional theatre committed to teaching real acting technique, not just theatre games, and we want to foster passion and growth in Portland’s next generation of actors. In this free introductory workshop, teen actors will learn foundational tools including: Given Circumstances, Relationships, Stakes, Objectives, and Obstacles. Whether you’re brand new or already performing, you’ll leave with practical tools you can immediately use in rehearsals, auditions, and class. Taught by 100 Lives company member and cofounder Annie Kehoe Space is limited. Advance registration required.

Anthropology: Now Make it Yours
Actors’ Script Analysis
3 Sundays: 11/29, 12/6, 12/13 @ 12PM-3pm
Cost: $150
In this three-week intensive, we’ll break down the script of Anthrolpology using techniques drawn from Stanislavski, Stella Adler, and Shurtleff’s Guideposts. You’ll learn how to dig deeper into the text for evidence of character’s given circumstances, relationships, objectives, and stakes. Then you’ll take that analysis off the page and into performance and personalize the role to create truthful, specific choices. Taught by 100 Lives Co-Artistic Director Annie Kehoe, playwright, director, and star of 100 Lives Repertory’s recent production of Anthropology.

The Selfish Audition
4 week series | Feb 20, 27, Mar 6, 13 | 10am-1pm

Reclaim ownership of your art! Just in time for PATAs. Using a self-chosen monologue as a working laboratory, actors will explore the beliefs, fears, and habits that often undermine their confidence and creativity in the audition room. This class focuses on how to create work that feels personally necessary, treat every audition as an opportunity for meaningful artistic practice, and hold authentic power and confidence every time you walk in the room. Taught by 100 Lives’ co-artistic director Annie Kehoe.

Time to own your Shakespeare and have the kind of fun and freedom you never thought you’d have. This is a relaxed class & growing collective of actors who want to experiment and push themselves to dig deeper into the text and into themselves. This class is designed for new or returning actors, looking to build community and commitment to craft through a deeper understanding of technique, self, and working with others.
